A sunset at the Davenport beach, near Santa Cruz, CA. This is really the last of the light that evening. But without filters, this turned out one of the best photographs I was able to make that evening.
From a recent road trip to Oregon. The plan was drive/stop/take pictures. Instead it was mostly careful driving while trying to capture what several snow storms left behind: the scenery you see below, and unfortunately a few cars on the side of the road. This image and the experience of sharing the two lane highway with logging trucks and other commercial vehicles reminded me of the show "Ice Road Truckers".
Once in a while you come across a new scene. Something you've never seen before. Something that catches your eye. You stare at it. Grab the camera gear and a tripod, and wonder ... "How do I describe what I've just seen?"
